When I am not in class, training for my half marathon, working at Brandwien's Bagels, writing for the Daily Tar Heel, or sitting at my sorority, I have a few passion project in the works. I am working to apply for a few research grants to fund a project aimed to educate financial literacy for young adults. I am also applying for a position as a large market risk analyst this summer.
Colorado struggles with one of the nation's highest youth suicide rates.
As Chair of the Lone Tree Youth Commission, I had a platform. I created the mental health awareness event, “It’s Not Nothing”. Mental illness is complex and taboo to talk about. People want to be there, but they don’t know how. This cycle is where lives are lost.
We presented different perspectives on mental illness to show the full spectrum: a mom who lost her high school son, a front-line social worker, and a girl who lost her father while struggling herself.
On May 16, 2019 upwards of 200 people sat in the theater. They weren't asked to combat mental illness, but after witnessing loss and learning about connection, they were inspired to create a community in which we can all continue.
I love to explore. That's what drove me to pursue journalism. Though my field of study centers in economics, I wanted to create my own outlet that combines writing and travel. Thus, Let's Go Outside was born,
Each work is an exploration of passion, presence, and curiosity. Showcased on this page are travel memoirs, love letters, and everything I've ever learned outside. You'll read about mountains I've skied, trails I've traversed, islands I've wondered, or reflections on relationships I've formed when I walk out my door. So, Let's Go Outside.
